Abstract |
The hexose phosphate transport system transported glycerol 3-phosphate and its analogs 3,4-dihydroxybutyl-1-phosphonate, glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate, and 3-hydroxy-4-oxobutyl-1-phosphonate. |

Notes
- Due to the high rate of mutation of the glycerol 3-phosphate transport system the hexose phosphate transport system was used.
- The growth of strain T5-6 was inhibited by glycerol 3-phosphate and the analogs 3,4-dihydroxybutyl-1-phosphonate, glyceraldhyde 3-phosphate & 3-hydroxyl-4-oxobutyl-1-phosphonate; see figure 1.
- Stain 5-6 was found to be to be resistant to glycerol 3-phosphate and its three analogs
- T5-6 mutants resistant to fructose 1-phosphate were found to have similar resistant patterns as strain 5-6 to glycerol 3-phosphate and its 3 analogs.
- Of the 3 glycerol 3-phosphate recognizing systems the hexose phosphate transport system seems to have the broadest specificity though all 3 could prove useful in the search for drug resistant mutants.
