comment: In DNAse footingprinting amplified DNA combined with TF and DNAse is electrophoresed for fragment comparison with a non-TF control sample. TF-bound fragments do not appear in the gel. Such fragments can be isolated, purified, and sequenced. This technique is often used to identify the binding motif of a TF resolving the protected region to 50-100 bp which can be further examined for TF-binding sites.
